Postdoctoral fellow
at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology, Rudbeck Laboratory. The position is available as soon as possible for a period of 2 year
Description of work: The project concerns an immunomodulatory protein and its ability to affect cancer growth and metastatic spread. A key task is to produce recombinant adenovirus producing the protein and assess its effect on cancer in different in vivo models, eventually including treatment of cancer patients. A range of cell biology techniques will be employed to determine the effect of treatment, such as sectioning, immunostaining, microscopy, image analysis. The work also includes careful planning of the work, organization, collaboration with other scientists, trouble-shooting, and oral/written presentation of data.
Requirements: To be eligible for a position as postdoctoral researcher the applicant's Ph.D. degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application date; however, for example periods of sick leave or parental leave are deducted from the three-year period. Furthermore a PhD in the medical or biomedical science area is required. Experience in working with construction and production recombinant adenovirus is an absolute requirement. Capacity to plan and organize work is a prerequisite, as is the ability to interact and collaborate with other scientists. Skills to present and statistically evaluate data and experience in different computer software will be assessed. Personal capacity, interest and drive will be very important.
Emphasis will be placed on personal capacity and ability to engage in the project.
Further requested qualifications: Therapeutic application of adenovirus in different in vivo models and experience of microscopy and image assessment is an advantage.
